Review of Big Fish (2003) by Kevin R — 18 Mar 2016
When you meet the love of your life, time stops.
A son grew up with a father who tells tall tales about his past to explain events in history. It frustrates the son so much he eventually goes three years without speaking with his father. When the father is on his death bed, the son comes home to discover the truth in his father's tall tales about the history of his family.
"We were like strangers who know each other very well.".
Tim Burton, director of Beetlejuice, Edward Scissorhands, Batman, Batman Returns, Ed Wood, Corpse Bride, Dark Shadows, Charlie and the Chocolate Factory, and Mars Attacks, delivers Big Fish. The storyline for this is very interesting and unfolds well. I loved the characters, setting, and unique settings and circumstances. The acting is also very good and the cast includes Ewan McGregor, Albert Finney, Jessica Lang, Alison Lohman, Steve Buscemi, Danny DeVito, and Miley Cyrus.
"The biggest fish in the river gets there by never getting caught.".
I came across this on Netflix and decided to watch this for the first time since catching an advance screening of this when it first came out. I always enjoyed this picture and thought it was excellent and worthwhile. I loved how the film comes together and the conclusion was awesome. I recommend seeing this at least once.
"He ate my dog.".
