Adams is dependably great, but Burton has been lost for a while. This film, while not the disaster that was Dark Shadows, does not triumph, and one cannot help but wonder who else there is to blame. Depp is not here to shoulder the weight this time; Burton himself must take full responsibility for this misused, stupendous cast and woefully missed opportunity.
