Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Nick D — 02 Jan 2015
Waltz as a charming sociopath and Adams as the naive painter of naive paintings, very creepy, kitchy big-eye child portraits makes for an oddity of a film, almost anthropological in its affect -- the scenes are cool and beautifully rendered and inhabited -- but a bit cold for my money.
Probably because the art is so distasteful to me, as were the people, even the sympathetic victim Adams portrays, I had a hard time caring much about what happened.
