Review of Big Eyes (2014) by D.r. P — 10 Jan 2015
It's likeable and watchable just in an average sort of way. Nothing really great, or nothing stands out particularly. The movie is executed well, but it lacked the proper Tim Burton charm. The last Burton movie I actually liked was Sweeney Todd, and the last one I actually loved was 'Big Fish'.
The premise is interesting, but it's known by most and quite predictable. The themes of suppression, sexism, courage, rebellion ans such are there, but I wish they could have been explored more, a little properly.
The two lead performances are good, but if the characters were fleshed out properly, their portrayals would have been more fun to watch.
The movie didn't bore me, but it's quite forgettable.
