Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Amanda C — 20 Jan 2015
It takes awhile to get going, but string performances from Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz manage to make Big Eyes the best thing that Tim Burton has made in almost a decade. It doesn't hurt that the story of Margaret Keane is a facinating one that hits all the notes you want in a biopic.
It is also perfectly structured to avoid the usual pitfalls of the biopic of trying to cram too much into a reasonable runtime as the most interesting moments of Keane's life happened within a decade.
Not a masterpiece by any stretch, but a solid film never the less.
