Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Mayukh B — 02 Apr 2015
While I liked the overall film very much, it is undeniable that the best thing about "Big.
Eyes" is Amy Adams. She is exquisite here, turning in one her career's best performances. As the film grows repetitive, her effortless beauty and charm radiate off the screen, keeping viewers entranced by her performance over the story itself. And when the story is as unique as this one, that's quite the accomplishment. It is also beautifully filmed, featuring a subtle yet still recognizable "Burton" touch. The jazzy music contributed by Lana Del Rey is sultry and melancholy, perfectly paralleling the tone throughout. A standout picture in a year full of them.
