Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Lovro H — 20 Aug 2015
This movie is very different from the usual movies of Tim Burton, and it's done perfectly! The story is intriguing and thought-provoking. The movie is about a woman painter who paints with a unique style.
Once she marries another painter, her talent becomes his talent. He starts taking credit for the paintings because 'the paintings would sell better if the painter was a man, not a woman'. Which leads to some really hurtful and hard-to-watch scenes as we see Margaret saying that she did not paint those paintings and etc.
It's a very emotional movie. Christoph Waltz's character, Walter, is very likeable at first, but as the story goes on, you start to hate the character more and more. The ending is very satisfying and it is a perfect ending.
The acting was great. Both Amy Adams and Christoph Waltz do great jobs on their characters, and they are very believable. The movie looks very colorful and it has Tim Burton written all over it. All in all, an amazing biopic with great acting, intriguing story and interesting characters.
I would deffinetely recommend seeing this movie!
