Review of Big Eyes (2014) by Geo T — 13 Apr 2016
Tim Burton gives us a fairly 'straight' film that follows the phenomenon of the Keanes, who made it big in the '50s and '60s with a bunch of paintings that took the world by storm in what I can only guess was a form of mass hypnosis, as the art isn't especially all that interesting, yet people bought them hand over fist.
At any rate, it's a very interesting biopic of the couple and the parting of the ways that they had when it was revealed that husband Walter was little more than a tireless self-promoter while his wife Margaret actually painted all of the famous bug eyed children.
Recommended.
