Review of Big Bang Love, Juvenile A (2006) by Eric R — 22 Mar 2011
A film that questions the motives of men in our world and the reason for such violence. Miike's Big Bang Love is a visually fascinating expressionistic nightmare of a film. The "plot" and use the word loosely, revolves around two murderers who happen to be sent to prison at the same time.
As the film progress the form a bind with homosexual undertones abound. The film touches on many philosophical issues like the identity of masculinity in out society, homosexuality, violence, heaven and hell, and even the notion of how we are all related to space and time.
It is definitely interesting and very pretty to look at but it just came off as too overstuffed with ideas, none being particularly fleshed out to me. Although, The imagery alone warrants a viewing. To be fair, the subtitles I used dd suck, but I kinda doubt it mattered all that much.
