Review of Big (1988) by Rabih H — 31 Mar 2013
They definitely dont make movies like this anymore... and what a shame! Can't emphasize enough how good this film is. Feel good from the moment it starts to the credits. 25 years old, and proof that good film-making is timeless.
Where has the family-oriented film making gone though? Big studios don't seem interested in doing anything even close to "family" without it being in 3D with ridiculous animation, or dumbed down story lines and cheesy acting.
Tom Hanks proves his mastery almost constantly throughout. One of his personal best performances. Loggia and Perkins are particular standout supporting cast, and the piano scene with Hanks and Logia is spectacular! A must see if you havn't already, and if you're like me and watched it around the time it came out as a kid, worth a revisit!
