Review of Bicentennial Man (1999) by Jesse A — 23 Nov 2010
The charming and mildly funny first half is offset by a boring second half and is riddled with overly ambitious technological advances that makes me wonder if the characters stumbled on the set of Star Trek.
What you will get, however, is a calm, emotional story, that, despite its flaws, is still entertaining. Robin Williams plays no comedian in this movie. He's usually not even funny, even when the director Chris Columbus intends him to be, but you might laugh a few times.
I laughed, I cried, I yawned, I rolled my eyes a few times, I wanted to throw a wrench at my computer screen every time a certain character (who makes Jar Jar Binks sound like Patrick Stewart) showed up. You'll know who she is when you see her.
Gosh, I can't wait until 2005!
