Review of Bicentennial Man (1999) by Sarfaraz A — 22 Aug 2013
Bicentennial Man science-fiction film directed by Chris Columbus - starring Robin Williams. It is based on the novel by Isaac Asimov and Robert Silverberg called 'The Positronic Man' that is said to be (also) inspiration from The Bicentennial Man, solely by Isaac Asimov. Bicentennial Man was nominated for Best Makeup.
The story circulates around the Andrew the android (Robin Williams) who is purchased to maintain the housekeeping by sweet and caring Mr. Martin who lives with his nice wife, and two young daughters. The youngest one that Andrew calls 'Little Miss', becomes fond of Andrew - gradually Andrew comes to appreciate human life, and becomes determined to have human emotions, feelings, grievances and so on.
Robin Williams picks on right in the beginning half of the movie - but it is all goes against the word 'android' seems like 'humans' are on sale for androids. Entirely ridiculous story as well as hard to swallow. Science fiction movies could adopt any direction they want but the direction like this is beyond acceptance by mere human-brain.
