Review of Bicentennial Man (1999) by Augustine S — 15 Oct 2012
Avoided this when it came out because of the universally awful reviews, and given that I enjoyed the original Asimov story I didn't want to see Chris Columbus massacre it. Only saw it on tv recently and I see what the reviewers were getting at.
Cloying sentimentality allied with ill-judged humour and no real chemistry between the leads made for something that seems as if it lasts much longer than it did... not quite 200 years but not far off.
