Review of Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) by Chandrahas K — 14 Oct 2007
Hmm... interesting! Something new for Bollywood however a tried and tested formula as far as Indian cinema is concerned, having been made into a few languages already.
Vidya Balan steals the show - it's her movie all the way! Which is great - the 1st time an actor has upstaged Akki in a movie for as long as I can remember! Akki is ok - perhaps a little bit OTT, Shiney Ahuja looks good but is only capable of playing an angry man, and overdoes it here. Manoj Joshi and Rajpal... fab as usual, I really liked Manoj Joshi's role - it suited him and it was nice to see him totally serious.
The twist at the end was soo unexpected, and shown in such a good way! Wow - full marks to Vidya Balan, who had many aspects to her role and played all of them well.
The music is ok but has done surprisingly well... esp the Hare Ram track, which def grew on me. The video is crap tho!
Better than some of Priyadarshan's out-n-out comedies (such as Bhagam Bhag), he's done really well to enter new territory for Bollywood.
Worth a watch, but prepare to be scared!
