Review of Bhool Bhulaiyaa (2007) by Sunay S — 24 Jan 2008
A different and gripping Priyadarshan film that would have probably been much better for me if it went on to actually decisively differentiate between science and superstition. Priyadarshan seems like he wants people of all beliefs to go home satisfied and unoffended.
Hence, he plays it safe by casting psychiatrists and "tantriks". It's like Knocked Up which fails to dwell on the issue of abortion entirely to avoid controversy. Apart from that Bhool Bhulaiyaa leaves many questions unanswered about why Patel's character is made a scapegoat by Avani even when according to one dailogue, Avani has no jealousy towards her.
Otherwise, a decent film that will spark discussions at the end.
