Review of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) by Ifiok O — 28 Mar 2010
Sex, drugs, and rock n' roll pretty much sums up what audiences should expect, along with very unique style of film-making. Director Russ Meyer uses a lot quick jump cuts that happen at such a frenetic pace that it gives viewers the feeling of being trapped inside an amazing acid trip, while on the verge of reaching an explosive climax.
And Roger Ebert's screenplay has a lot stinging satire about Hollywood debauchery, and also very unforgettable cheesy dialogue, making this a novelty that is too hard to pass up, even if it's taboo.
