Review of Beyond the Valley of the Dolls (1970) by Floyd C — 10 Nov 2010
Much better than the, supposedly serious "Valley of the Dolls" which is not connected to this film in anyway aside from providing it a starting point. This is satirical and campy as hell which works well.
It doesn't even try to be a genre piece because it falls into so many genre's it isn't funny, though I couldn't help but see in the Manson Murderesque climax a sad connect to the true life death of Sharon tate who was in the original film which wqas kind of tacky though this would probably have been shot around the time her murder happened so I'm not sure how much it truely could have affected the original script writers.
Aside from that this is just a big mess of campy fun that is definitely worthy of a watch, there are so many drinking games just waiting to be played during this film it isn't even funny.
