Review of Beyond the Sea (2004) by Blair C — 06 Aug 2007
A good film and an exceptional musical. kevin spacey tells the story in a very postmodern and stylistic way, breaking the fourth wall and ignoring the age of the actors (it takes place over several decades, but no makeup is used to age anyone and the middle-aged spacey plays a 20-something bobby darin).
the movie has a very self-aware feel to it(they know that the audience knows that people don't really brake into song). it has a strong use of color and the big finale was amazing.
