Review of Beyond the Sea (2004) by Masorad ( — 05 Jul 2008
I liked it. I really liked it. I couldn't say how good an interpretation Spacey did as Bobby Darin because I didn't live when Bobby Darin was around. An interesting twist on the docu-drama genre, incorporating sort of fantasy sequences in to add a sort of whimsy that people get when they hear Darin tunes.
Some very fine work from the other actors as well, esp Kate Bosworth as Miss Sandra Dee. Overall, a great flick, albeit not a "direct" interpretation of Bobby Darin's life. Hey, the way I see it, if you the straight truth, go to the Biography section of your library, not the Drama section of your video store.
