Review of Beyond the Sea (2004) by Joe B — 10 Jun 2005
DVD First Viewing, 1 Spacey film seen.
Beyond the Sea has some of the same problems as most recent biopics. Just like Ray and De-Lovely, we don't really learn too too much about Bobby Darin. At least we get a character that is easily likable - even if he is extremely egotistical. Kevin Spacey puts his heart and soul into this film, and he alone (as actor, director, etc.) makes the film worthy of your two hours. It just should have been Oscar-worthy, so it's a little bit of a disappointment. Good music though...
