Review of Beyond the Sea (2004) by Dylan D — 06 Jun 2006

I have to say that this movie followed along the lines of Ray and Walk the Line a little too much. Now those two films really had great performances and amazing costume designs that helped me escape in that period of time.

This however didn't really have either of those. The costumes were okay but I never really got the impression that Bobby Darin was playing at these famous night clubs. Now Kevin Spacey was okay but his performance didn't really capture my attention as much as Joaquin Phoenix or Jamie Foxx.

Beyond the Sea was a good movie but it really lacked the sparks that other musicals have.
