Review of Beyond the Reach (2014) by Anthony M — 23 Aug 2015
A silly mess of a movie that makes you wonder if studio executives actually read scripts before they are green lit. Michael Douglas is just odd in this performance and his character motivations are just all over the place.
At times he is so on board in just getting rid of Jeremy Irvine's character by blowing up a cave but when he catches him in some scenes he just lets him go to suffer some more. Jeremy Irvine is pretty much the only thing I would recommend you see this movie for.
He is a pretty great up in coming actor that has been doing some nice work over the past few years but isn't a huge star yet. It does have a nice look to it shooting out in the desert and some of the more actiony scenes are really exciting but the script is so poorly written and ends with a ridiculous ending that will just make you yell at the movie "you've got to be kidding me" over and over in a bad way.
