Review of Beyond the Mat (1999) by Craig G — 16 Oct 2006
I bought this at the height of my wrestling obsession, someting which has since died down as I got older. What it is, is a wonderful insight into just how far these insane men and women go to reach the pinnacle of sports entertainment.
Drug abuse, alcoholism, and living out of a suitcase are just some of the subjects covered in this fascinating journey through a sports entertainers career. Sure wrestling is faker then George Bush's IQ Test scores, but this documentary proves what they'll put them selves through to reach the top.
A must see for all older wrestling fans who appreciate that it's not quite real.
