Review of Beyond Re-Animator (2003) by Sol H — 03 Feb 2006
King Kong (2005).
The movie is excessively long. There's no need for the length. Now, I'm someone who hates overly long films normally, but this 'un really didn't get boring. Maybe it's just because I love the King Kong story so much, but hell, I loved it. Every King Kong has been seriously flawed, and this is no exception, but it's still brilliant if you don't let them bug you.

Fantastically shot, creepy conspiracy flick. Communists come from outer space and take over...basically. Unfortunately I've not seen the 50s version yet.

A huge dissapointment to me, seeing as how much I loved Michael Winterbottom & co's previous movie "24 Hour Party People" and seeing how much I love Steve Coogan and how much this looked like it was going to be amazing with the self-referentialness of it all. It wasn't as good as I thought. However...don't be put off, it is still a very good film and pointless as the whole thing is, very funny.

Well it's noway near as good as "Re-Animator" but who expected it to be? It's still miles better than "Bride of Re-Animator" though. A great little gore-fest comedy.

1st hour felt like it was focusing purely on the visuals. It really didn't feel like much. Then the 2nd one started and I was suddenly grabbed by the balls. What a fantastic movie! Great visuals aren't a bad thing by the way.
