Review of Bewitched (2012) by ***Charlie*** — 13 Sep 2008
I must say the movie is a cute, charming one. Not necessarily the best for 2005 thus far, but it works in its own magical way. I would hate to admit it, but the movie fell flat on its face slowly towards the second half of the show.
Hmmm. Nicole Kidman is a charmer. Although I'm not a fan of her purrings in the movie. It sounds too kitten-ish. I know she's trying to project a character who's naive about the real world and stuff but hmmm.
Will Ferrell really didn't suit being Darrin. It would've been better if they've stuck with their original choice, which was Jim Carrey. Yeah. He has that unique likeness to Dick York. So does Nicole with Elizabeth Montgomery.
Hmmm. I would've thought that Michael Caine would sound a bit more fun and stuff but hmmm. And too bad Shirley Maclaine was underutilized. Now she was in her element playing up the campy characters of Iris Smythson/Endora.
Haha. Yes! Overall a sweet, charming, cute movie. But it just needs a little bit more tweaking so that it wouldn't have lost its plot midway.
