Review of Bewitched (2005) by Daniel H — 02 Jul 2010
There are few words to describe how toe-curlingly bad I found this film. The concept of a real witch ending up starring in a remake of the "Bewitched" TV series was good but Nicole Kidman, who we all know is a great actress, is truly awful with her little squeals and squeaky voice and not even in the same league as the original, more sultry Samantha.
Will Ferrell is rather unlikeable but he does get most of the film's biggest laughs while the rest of the cast including such greats as Michael Caine and Shirley MacLaine are rather redundant. Kristin Chenoweth as the noisy neighbour at least gets some good laughs.
It doesn't try and shoehorn too much nostalgia about the TV show in which in a way is a pity as very little of that show seems to have made its way into this film. A bit of a waste of time for all involved really.
