Review of Bewitched (1981) by Daniel M — 02 Jan 2009
This movie, to me, was a complete embarrassment. I heared that it was nominated, and won some razzie awards, but I thought I'd give it a shot anyways. I still don't know what I was thinking. This movie screamed razzie nomination, it got what it deserved.
The cast is wasted. Kidman is ditzy, and very annoying as the witch with magical powers, and can get whatever she wants, with just a twitch of her nose, don't know what Caine was doing here as her father, but that was a bad career move for him, and poor Ferrell got handed to him probably some of the worst dialogue in the film.
You could tell that this role was especially written for him, but it just didn't mesh well with this kind of movie. It manages to squeeze out a couple laughs miles apart from each other, but that is all the script offers.
Small appearances by Maclaine and Carrell don't help at all, and the leanth of this movie was unbearably long, especially when the movie is this bad. One of the worst Ferrell films I've ever had the misfortune to see.
This film is a huge mis-fire, I bet the cast from the old television series, were spinning in there graves, after the creation of this junk. Hated it.
