Review of Beverly Hills Cop III (1994) by Jacob R — 18 Aug 2008
OK, I get why this sequel is maligned---it has maybe half of the original cast, all the talent behind the camera is gone, it lost all of the 'edge' from the previous two installments, the plot is REALLY silly, and John Landis is far from being a talented action director...but gosh darn it if I'm not a newborn BHCIII apologist.
It is silly and really dumb, but I know I laughed more during this one than the other two combined----the Baby Elephant Walk version of Axel F, the gun with a microwave in it, Cylons, a George Lucas cameo...all silly, dumb stuff that made me laugh.
It's not a good movie---and yeah, probably a failure of a sequel if there ever was one, but damn it I'm giving it positive marks anyway.
