Review of Beverly Hills Cop II (1987) by Tom R — 20 May 2011
Not as classicly funny as the first, but still full of fun, laughs and cool shoot-em-ups. However, the biggest problem this sequel has is its plot. It involves a series of heists being staged and the criminals giving the cops clues via notes that are labeled with letters of the alphabet (starting with "A").
The main problem is that there is NO REASON for the criminals to clue the cops into their plan. It's not bragging, as Axle and the cops use the letters to foil their plans each time. And the purpose of the letters are never discussed.
The whole plot centers around these letters, which is utterly ridiculous. Otherwise, this sequel might have been closer to a 4 or 5 star follow-up. Ah wells... what does writing and plot have to do with anything anway, right? *SIGH*.
