A rare kind of action comedy, it doesn't sacrifice one for the other, it's hilariously funny and also an edgy and violent cop movie, were most such movies have to be one or the other (rush hour) Beverly Hills Cop is both, just look at the brutal early scene where Axels friend is murdered in cold blood, a truly shocking and harsh moment, and the final shootout is suitably bloody and hard edged, on top of that the movie is full of foul mouthed salty dialogue, but were the movie really stands out of course is Eddie Murphy, in his finest hour as Axel Foley, he is electric , rapid fire witty and completely funny throughout, probably one of the most confident and magnetic star making roles ever.

A great comedy, a great action movie and featuring a great, iconic soundtrack that not even crazy frog can kill, FUCK YOU CRAZY FROG!!!!!!!!
