Review of Beverly Hills Cop (1984) by Jeremy P — 06 Jan 2013

I don't often hand out a straight 5 star rating but I didn't even hesitate with Beverly Hills Cop. I had seen bit and pieces throughout the years but after sitting down and watching it all the way through it has to be one of my favorite 80s movies of all time.

I am a huge Stallone but I couldn't imagine anyone other than Murphy playing the role of Axel Foley (in case anyone was unaware the role of Axel Foley was originilly offered to Sylvester Stallone but he would turn it down to work on another film and so Murphy landed the role).

Eddie Murphy used to be a great actor and he completely owned it. Beverly Hills Cop is essential 80s viewing. The comedy, the action, everything just molds together to form 80s perfection (which in honesty is an acquired taste).
