Review of Beverly Hills Cop (1984) by Baurushan J — 25 May 2013
"Beverly Hills Cop is a nice and easy film." These were the words used by one of my teacher assistants in college to describe this movie and even before that, I was still chasing this film for years.
And when I had got the bloody chance, boy was I glad. The story is about Detective Axel Foley played by Eddie Murphy who is in Beverly Hills, amongst all the white folks and investigating the murder of his best friend.
He is warned by his police chief Lieutenant Andrew played by Ronny Cox to stay out of trouble and yet he dogs on the trail of above-the-law Victor played by Steven Berkoff, the British crime czar who was responsible for the murder of Foley's friend.
With the help of Detective Billy Rosewood played by Judge Reinhold, Sgt. Taggart played by John Ashton and Jenny Summers played by Lisa Eilbacher, Foley attempts to corner Victor in his mansion, which leads to a wild slapstick shootout.
With it's memorable soundtrack and a strong-as-steel hero played by Eddie Murphy, his movie is a hyperactive yet relaxing movie that remains a classic. Beverly Hills Cop gets a decent 10/10.
