Review of Best Worst Movie (2009) by Bryan M — 14 May 2012
Affectionate documentary about the reuniting of the cast and crew of "the worst movie ever made," 'Troll 2'. At first several of them are thrilled to be finding stardom after all these years, but gradually some them grow a bit tired of reciting the bad lines from the movie and appearing at conventions where they are ignored.
It's funny when we see the director and writer defending their work with a "nobody understands" attitude. One of the movie's cast-members actually tries to compare it to "Casablanca" because it doesn't feature car chases.
In a way "Troll 2 " deserves as much affection as an Ed Wood movie might, in the old so-bad it's fun-to-watch way. And this documentary sort of does the kind of thing Tim Burton's "Ed Wood" did (better) in acknowledging it.
