Review of Best in Show (2000) by Michael C — 15 Aug 2008
The brilliance of this Christopher Guest movie is plainly the ability of this ensemble cast. Creating characters of unrivaled depth and absolute believability, any viewer can be sucked into the obsession with showing dogs.
I would have never though Catherine O'Hara could play a â?? well, the best description for it would be "former slut" â?? married to Eugene Levy who has the impossible birth defect of two left feet.
But I believed it, in the tender moments, that these two were married and truly loved each other. Parker Posey's uptight, over-achieving yuppie upstaged any puppy that bothered to appear on screen.
Pay attention to the details of the movie â?? the clocks on the wall behind the hotel desk for one â?? and you will find humor everywhere. Repeat viewings will always give you something else to laugh at.
