Review of Best in Show (2000) by Lilo C — 16 Aug 2010
Christopher Guest is once again at the heart of a collection of supremely talented improvisational actors in this hilarious take on the scenes behind a 'popular' dog show.
There's really very little satirizing going on beyond showing a bunch of ridiculous people who think that what they're involved in is the biggest deal on the planet, but the actors with their dogs are just so damn funny that it doesn't matter if there's a true gimmick here. Most of the developments are pretty standard for a feel-good comedy, but again, none of this matters because, for the most part, you'll have to catch your breath laughing before you can stop to care about the fact that you've seen the formula before.
