Review of Bernie (2012) by Mike C — 10 Feb 2013
Certainly a movie that will remain more memorable for what happened in my life after the movie than what I saw on the screen. Jack Black plays a Texas funeral director who charms a small town, then gets caught up in a crime and scandal. Black was nominated for a Golden Globe for his part and it might be deserved. He's still goofy and it fits the role well, billed as a dark comedy, but he also shows some acting to pull off the character.
It's an interesting story, evidently based on true events. In the end, it seems a little outrageous. Sure, he killed a woman, but everything from there seems to benefit the community. Won't get into spoilers, but it's quite an injustice system we have when guys far worse than this get a fraction...wait. No more. That may have already spoiled it.
