Review of Bernie (2012) by Ashley D — 21 Jan 2015

Although it has an incredible performance by Jack Black and the story was kept interesting (for me) by the "mock" documentary style, the movie was quite offbeat for my taste. It's difficult to call it a comedy, there weren't many laughable moments.

I thought too much focus was put on the interviews, plus the Nugent family and stockbroker looked evil in the movie with no humanity, not really fair to the real life people, and Bernie was portrayed as a perfectly nice citizen; in other words, the movie is too biased.

Nonetheless, Black's performance is quite memorable and the movie overall is very entertaining.
