Review of Bernie (2012) by Matthew S — 17 May 2015
"Bernie" is a perfect display of a great balance of a true crime documentary, drama and dark comedy. It eases through each genre so fluidly and it doesn't hurt to have top notch performances from the leads Black & MacLaine, especially Black who gives one of his best performances as the kind hearted title character.
A great supporting character played perfectly by Matthew McConaughey was a welcome dose of comedy the film needed and he stole the majority of the scenes he was in. With great direction, great script, great cast you have an evenly balanced film that is sure to both entertain and inform.
A-.
