Review of Berlin: Symphony of a Great City (1927) by Andrey B — 04 Sep 2017
A nice example of quality German movie from the beloved 20's, the most creative German period. This time it's a "city symphony", very popular genre of the time (let's remember Vertov's "Man with a movie camera").
Very skillfully edited and produced. I was spellbound by the magnificent shots of one day of Berlin's life. Particularly impressive is the first reel when it is still early, quiet on the streets and then people start to appear and the locomotive of day life begins to gain momentum.
