Review of Berberian Sound Studio (2012) by Panta O — 30 May 2013
With a cinematic sensibility hugely referential of D'ario Argento, this is a film you are safe to call 'Lynchian' without being told off. Featuring a fantastic use of sound and a wonderful central performance from the brilliant Toby Jones, this is a film you may never have worked out.
It's not as completely engrossing or well executed as a Lynch nightmare like 'Lost Highway', but nevertheless has a similar stamp about it. A flawed, good idea held up by its strongest elements.
