Probably the best retelling of Beowulf on film, which isn't saying much. The tale is garbled and morphed from the Anglo-Saxon text, and the movie industry has yet to put out a faithful translation.
I had been waiting for this for a year, and I'm fairly disappointed. Aside from a nice imagining of Grendel, there is little besides gorgeous scenery to make this an engaging film. Stellan Skarsgard gives a nice performance as Hrothgar.
