Review of Beowulf (2007) by Lilianetty L — 27 May 2011
AMAZING! - 2007 reaction to the film. - In May 28, 2011, same reaction, needed to do a re-watch and re-review (with all the knowledge I have now, and yes, after reading the book/poem of Beowulf for my Literature of English/Neoclassic class).
Plot: I think is loyal somehow to the book BUT they changed to many things, like Grendel's mother story, the dragon who has 300 years and also, how King Hrothgar died. But yes, those are some details that were changed in the film, and also, how Beowulf died (that made me a bit angry, but it looked good anyway). But now, the film, It tells the story of Beowulf, how he almost kill Grendel to save King Hrothgar's kingdom, make himself a legend/myth and yes, how love and enchantment can change your life forever. Stars for both story-tellings, but yes, I love more the book/poem one.
Acting & Music: I must admit, no matter the language, you will still enjoy this animated film. And yes, the characters look so much alike to the actors, as Anthony Hopkins, Angelina Jolie, John Malkovich, Brendan Gleeson (this one did not look that much alike), Crispin Glover and many others. The score was amazing as the ending credit song (wonderful!). So, stars here for the effort and work.
To end this re-review, 4 stars of 5. I still don't give it 5, because of the changes, and some roles that were not that enough. Anyway, enjoy and HASTA LA PROXIMA AMIGOS/AS! BLESS YOU ALL VIKINGS!
