Review of Beowulf (2007) by Matthew P — 30 Jul 2011
Neil Gaiman's adaptation of the ancient story was amazing, but the directing was far too over the top. The CGI really detracted from the film for my taste; I wasn't able to completely suspend disbelief enough to enjoy the tale.
I don't know if it was the CGI or Zemeckis' directing, but the shots felt very claustrophobic to me. Great performances from the cast and an interesting take, but not enough to be memorable.
