Review of Beowulf (1976) by Zack S — 22 Sep 2011
First things first, I do think Beowulf really pushes the boundaries on its PG-13 rating. It most likely got the rating because the blood and nudity is animated. With that said, Beowulf is an awesome adventure epic with stunning, groundbreaking animation.
The visuals here are fantastic. I was quite impressed with how well they captured Angelina Jolie in this movie. The script did remind a bit of 300 but it's still well-written enough where none of the dialogue is overly cheesy.
This movie also features a solid and engaging storyline complete with great characters and superb casting to match. This movie is a really great popcorn movie. As I said before, it does push its PG-13 rating a little bit, but it's still an excellent film.
