Review of Benny's Video (1992) by Minna S — 13 Mar 2009

I was surprised how this film seemed very light compared to, say, Funny Games or The Seventh Continent. I think it's the lightest Haneke I've seen so far. I won't rule out serious emotional issues, though.

.. But seeing this one after three Haneke movies you really should know what to expect, and I did. Yes, it was disturbing at times and the trick is that most disturbing images happen only in viewers minds.

Also I felt that it had some quite irrational scenes but I guess they serve a higher purpose that I just don't see.
