Review of Benny's Video (1992) by Anonymous User — 28 Aug 2009
Micheal Haneke has projected some of the bleakest images of human life, but still claims he is an optomist. Most of Haneke's films that I have seen have been slow, and nothing much happens (cache, time of the wolf), but this film moves pretty fast, and is quite disturbing.
The film is about a boy who has a videotape of his parents slaughtering a pig, Benny becomes obsessed with the tape, which leads him to commit a crime of his own. The film has an amazing first half hour, and a great last half hour, but in the middle was alot of pointless time wasting, which bored me.
I would suggest this film to anyone who was a fan of Haneke's other works "Funny Games" or "The Piano Teacher".
