Review of Benny & Joon (1993) by Don S — 20 Jul 2011
An average romantic comedy that never really pulled me in. Not much a Quinn fan, but I usually enjoy Depp and Masterson fairly well. Depp deftly plays another oddball character (loved the scene with the dinner rolls), and Masterson handles playing the mentally ill decently. The story is the problem here. It is too formulaic; it takes no chances. You don't really get caught up in the characters or their dilemmas. Watch this if there's an actor you follow, otherwise you won't get much enjoyment from it.
