Review of Benny & Joon (1993) by Charlotta L — 14 Jul 2010
"Don't underestimate the mentally ill. We know how to count.".
Joon, not your avarage girl lives with her very overprotective brother Benny. Noone seems to understand Joon, but then at a poker game at Benny's friends house she manages to win a cousin...
The quirky cousin is Sam. A quirky young man that sees the world very differently and is a huge fan of Buster Keaton. Sam moves in, falls in-love with Joon and changes their lives.
This is one of the cutest movies I have ever seen. The story is touching and really and at the same time funny, if you are into romantic movies, watch this one.
Johnny Depp does an amazing performance as Sam. And according to me pretty much out-shines everyone else. But Mary Stuart Marsterson is also great as Joon.
"Well, they taste sweet, but really they're just humiliated grapes. I can't say I am a big supporter of the raisin council.".
