Review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) by King E — 11 Jan 2010
An uneasy amalgam of terrible and gutsy, this film is largely a bizarre sci-fi artifact of it's particular era that can be summed up as a highly watchable train wreck. Apparently having grown bored with intelligent apes, the ongoing film series here turns to nuke worshipping super-mutants for entertainment and/or social commentary, finally bloodily staggering to end game territory where few films would dare travel.
