Review of Beneath the Planet of the Apes (1970) by Jessica H — 24 Jan 2010
In contrast to the other "Ape" movies, this one is probably the weakest in terms of being a social commentary. For example: there isn't one. This film is just designed to tell a story and to be entertaining, nothing more.
While it succeeded in these areas it could have been more instead of being a junk sci-fi. Now, I like the Science-Fiction genre very much, I just think it had more potential than was executed. However, even after its release and the director's attempt to end the series it still left everyone wanting more, so you have to commend it for accomplishing that and having the film end the way it did was probably for the best.
